Find Your Voice, Add Spice to your Content!

For some of us the idea of using our voice in presentations or videos is a frightening affair. We hear our own voice differently than others and do not always feel confident using it in a public format. Enter Murf.ai, a text to voice service that I decided to give a spin.

Basically Murf.ai let’s you take text input from your most common document formats (unfortunately at this time PDF is not one of them) and converts them to voice. This is great for things such as video voice overs and presentations, or I would think even audio auto responders. Most common would be voice over for social media, marketing and advertising videos.

Easy to use; I was able to within minutes achieve a basic result from a simple Word .docx file. After “Importing the Script” I was prompted to to give the system some hint as to how I wanted to initially break up the script. I could group the text is paragraphs or by individual sentences.

Immediately after import I was presented with each of the text groups and was able convert to voice with the click of a button.

Now the fun really begins. Murf.ai has a multitude of voices to choose from a variety age categories and accents (i.e. American English, UK English, Aussie). As well you can select individual words and phrases from the script and be provided options on pronunciation if you want the special emphasis on a key script component.

Next you can work on adjusting the pitch and speed of the voice

The results are near Amazing. I will admit there was still a little sense of that “robotic” voice; but no-were near as bad as the defaults found on many platforms. As well a little tweaking here and there makes the results even more realistic.

Additional languages (20+) at Pro Level are also available which is great for supporting wide audiences or specialized translation requirements alike.

It doesn’t stop there! Murf also has a vast library of stock images, music and video that can be used to essentially create your video or content. Including letting you upload your own clips.

Paid versions are fairly inexpensive for the valued added and let you download the output without licence hindrances. All in all while not unique in the marketplace this tools seems highly effective and easy to use.

Job Defense Alert!

Well your imagination is the limit but it is easy to see how once could use this to:

  • Add some extra sizzle to your corporate presentations
  • Expand your perceived capability – no need to engage a costly video producer for simple media presentations (otherwise known as the “no boss? I did this myself”)
  • As always…save some time.
